Maybe, Yes

Irma Thomas, yes sir. On the cover of Believer. I love Believer, especially the music issue. There are usually a few songs/bands I know and the rest is a new mix group of songs I grow to love. Kind of like our Bricolage mixes. This month though, is really one of the best ever. Ethiopiques continued.

There is a map of failed ethnomusicology from Laos and Thailand in the magazine that I hope Darcy saw before his vacation. I would guess it may have been the guiding light of his low evening river cruises.

The volatile but symbiotic relationship of Mabel and Anabel.

And also feel the joy- http://www.whitney.org/www/2008biennial/www/?section=artists&page=artist_dragons

And here is a link to the Lucky Dragons, Widow album, which has my favorite song on the Believer disc, Complement Song.

Farewell Louisville

Here is a short video that me and the Thompson's put together several years ago. This was the last year that the IBMA Fan Fest was in Louisville before moving to Nashville. Had big plans to make something longer but hasn't come together yet. Thanks Mr. Weller.

Root Hog or Die

Here is a great link to some excellent mp3s from all over the world from a friend of Darcy's, Nathan Salsburg. Check out the blog too!

Here is a link to his show on East Village Radio. His 2 hour Labor Day show was especially fantastic with some of my favorite Parchman Farm songs.
